What is the TAE40122 Cert 4 Training and Assessment in Brisbane, Cairns, the Gold Coast and Melbourne?

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment was released in December 2022, and now supersedes the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment. The TAE40122 is the newest version of the training and assessment qualification. The new qualification has an additional 2 units of competency and changes in the core and elective unit structure, allowing organisations better flexibility in the style of training and assessment course they deliver. RAM Training Services has structured the TAE40122 course to be more relatable to those working in the training industry, with an emphasis on the delivery of training sessions and assessing of individuals.

This nationally recognised Cert 4 training and assessment qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors, who are delivering training services to vocational learners, and assessment services to candidates. It is designed for those that have relevant industry skills and knowledge, and are looking to actively work in the vocational education sector, or to be a trainer and assessor in their workplace, teaching accredited or non-accredited training.

If you hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment qualification, please check out our Cert IV TAE40116 upgrade course to ensure your vocational training is up to date. Through our Cert IV Training and Assessment upgrade option we can recognise your previous training for your future TAE40116 units. This option will enable you to complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment fast track. The TAE40116 and the TAE40122 qualifications are equivalent so currently those who hold the TAE40116 do not need to upgrade to the TAE40122 Cert IV TAE.

NOTE: Due to the TAE40116 version of this qualification being superseded by the TAE40122, all students currently enrolled in the TAE40116 course must complete and submit their assessments by November 1, 2024.

Intensive 5-day Face to Face Workshop

This Cert 4 Training and Assessment intensive 5-day Face to Face course requires participants to complete self-paced pre and post-course work. The pre-course work is to be completed before the 5-day workshop which includes; self-paced reading, watching recorded tutorials, preparation of your presentations.

The post-course work is made up of a variety of tasks and activities, these include; short answer questions, case scenarios, research activities, and the completion of presentations.

During the Cert IV Training and Assessment classroom (Face to Face) days, you will complete a range of assessment tasks, and group activities. As well as completing tasks that require a VET Trainer/Teacher to act as a lead validator - eliminating the need for a participant to source their own trainer in order to complete these tasks.

This method of delivery gives you the skills and knowledge required to complete the remainder of the TAE assessment tasks from home, using the knowledge gained during the week, as well as access to pre-recorded instructional webinars and pre-recorded tutorials

Intensive 5-Day Face to Face Workshop participants need to provide the following, as post-course work:

As part of the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, you are required to deliver a presentation to an audience of 4 people, in a face to face setting. You will have to organise the below, as post-course work:

4 people to deliver 3 x 30min face to face presentation sessions to - these must be participants over the age of 15, and this session must be recorded

NO work placement required – while other providers may require you to source an RTO for work placement to finalise your assessments, our courses have been specifically designed to eliminate the need for this.

Intensive 5-day Live Virtual Workshop

This Intensive 5-day Live Virtual course runs similarly to the face to face, but it’s delivered in an online environment over Zoom, and requires 1 additional presentation to complete as post-course work. The course requires participants to complete self-paced pre and post-course work. The pre-course work required to be completed before the 5-day workshop includes self-paced reading, watching recorded tutorials.

Your 3-day Assessment & Validation Workshop date is booked separately to your overall course, and can be booked in as soon as you have enrolled and paid for your TAE40122 course, or at any time throughout your studies (regardless of whether you have commenced or completed any of your course work).

All Distance Learning Certificate IV TAE40122 participants are supported by our pre-recorded tutorials and pre-recorded instructional webinars, giving the participants the flexibility to work on their assessments at a time that suits their needs. Participants have up to 12 months to successfully complete their assessments from home.

Your 3-day Assessment & Validation Workshop date is booked separately to your overall course, and can be booked in as soon as you have enrolled and paid for your TAE40122 course, or at any time throughout your studies (regardless of whether you have commenced or completed any of your course work).

This delivery method allows for customised support from the trainer as well as the ability to cover off the assessment tasks that need to be recorded, and/or need a qualified VET Trainer in order to lead the assessment tasks. (Presentations will still be required to be recorded)

5-day Live Virtual

Standard fee: $2295 – A deposit of $1495 is due on enrolment, with $800 due on completion of Live Virtual workshop.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Deposits are non-refundable. Once the course is paid in full, no refund will be given for cancellations unless 5 business days’ notice, prior to the Workshop start date, is given (minus a 20% administration fee). Should we need to postpone a course for any reason, every effort will be made to reschedule the course within the following two months. If however, this is not possible, or the rescheduled dates do not suit, participants will be entitled to a full refund.

Distance Learning

All Distance Learning options are self-paced, with detailed recorded tutorials & webinars, to support your TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment online studies.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. How long will it take me to complete my course?

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) advises what they believe is a good indication of how long different courses should take. These are called the Volume of Learning Indicators, and they suggest that a (full) Certificate 4 level qualification should take between 600 and 1200 hours.

In our experience, every person is different, and so the time it takes one person to complete is different to the next person. This largely depends on each person’s experience, dedication to their studies, and their other personal commitments.

Students will have up to 12 months to complete the TAE40122 course with RAM, however students may be able to complete within 6 – 8 months, depending on their individual schedules and commitment to completing assessment tasks.

Our suggested Volume of Learning for this qualification is 6 months – 18 months (600 – 1800 hours).

Students enrolled in the previous TAE40116 version of this qualification need to have their assessments completed and submitted by November 1, 2024.

What tools and resources will I need for this course?

To complete the Cert IV in Training & Assessment, tools you’ll need include access to the internet, a computer/laptop with Microsoft Office, a printer, and a video recording device as simple as an iPhone.

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training & Assessment has a substantial amount of changes in the unit of competency requirements compared to the previous versions of the qualification, meaning depending on the delivery method an individual has chosen will determine the resource requirements.

Do you give extensions for assessment deadlines?

While we are confident that our students will be able to submit all of their assessments for the TAE40122 within their allocated timeframe of 12 months, and we provide extensive support to assist with this, there are occasions where our student’s personal circumstances may unavoidably cause delays for them. Due to regular updates to our assessment materials, as well as to training packages in general, if we are able to offer an extension, we are only able to extend due dates by 1 month at a time, should you require it. Please note, there is no guarantee that we will be able to offer an extension, but we are more than happy to do so where possible.

There is no fee charged for the first extension given. Any further extensions requested, will incur a re-enrolment fee of between $395 and $595, dependent on whether a complete new set of course materials is required. In some cases, this may mean you will need to re-do parts, or all, of your assessment tasks using the new materials.

What are the entry requirements for the TAE40122?

Those entering this qualification must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. This is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. For example, to teach ‘business’ qualifications you will need to have existing skills and prior learning in the industry, such as a business qualification (to at least the level you wish to teach) along with several years of relevant experience working in business.

Can I upgrade TAE40116 to TAE40122?

While we don’t believe it will be necessary to do so (the 2 qualifications are equivalent, and as long as the Standards don’t change, there is no requirement to do so), it will be possible to do a TAE40116 upgrade to TAE40122. Depending on what units you have completed previously, this would require gap training on 7-8 units, credit transfer for 1-4 units, and completion of 1-3 new units.

Given that the TAE40122 is equivalent to the TAE40116 (and anyone holding the TAE40116 qualification, will not have to upgrade), we are recommending that students complete the TAE40116 version while they still can. The TAE40116 will be less expensive than the TAE40122, has 2 less units to complete, and is equivalent, meaning you won’t need a TAE40122 upgrade.

Can I still upgrade my TAA40104 or BSZ40198 qualification?

Unfortunately not sorry! These versions have both been superseded at least twice now, which means none of the units are equivalent to the TAE40116 or the new TAE40122. You will need to complete the full course.
